I am getting more excited about this with every new installment. I have promised myself that for the first time ever I will stay focused and totally motivated, and with Captain Kevin in command I’m sure I will have no problem keeping that promise. I can’t wait to get started!

    Hi Kevin,
As you are aware I have done an interview with you, I still have not got round to dictating the audio, I lost focus, I have also been on way to many lists, I also I has a Aweber account for between 6 months to a year!!! I pull in exactly zero $ monthly because I have no idea what I should be writing about. I think this manifesto is the kick in the behind I need to start where I should have started in the first place.

    Hugh
P.S. I am really sorry about the audio’s, I still have them on my hard drive. I don’t know laugh or cry at times.

  3. Peter says:

    This is bullshit!

Tell me what it is, how much and give the order link!! I’m ready now and don’t need anymore teasing!

  4. Diana Kipka says:

Arrghh! I am pooped - I’ve known for some time that my subscription list was way out of control but until I acted upon your Directive #4, I never suspected it was that bad…

I chose to keep 2 other marketers’ newsletters besides yours but to avoid further distraction have set my email filters so those newsletters go directly into their own folder - yours is the only messages I’ll see when I open my inbox. Ditto for a few research newsletters in my niche, ie ETR (I’ve also gotten great ideas from them especially their Health version), Native Remedies and Google Alerts.

Free at Last! Free at last! - from the time constraints that viewing/looking through so many messages on a daily basis put on me. Thank you for the push I needed - and my HD thanks you too LOL

  5. Old Coot says:

For some reason I was not able to watch parts 2 and 3 but I will keep trying - HOWEVER - part 4 has produced something that I find very refreshing.
This is the very first time I have seen anybody seeking to train internet marketers or online entrepreneurs providing a sound foundation.
It is the nature of the internet marketing jungle that keeps most wannabes off balance. Nobody seems to think it is strange that there are hundreds of different ways of teaching the same subject and the trainees are actually encouraged to think that improvements are being made all the time in the training that they are receiving.
It is not in the interests of most so-called gurus for wannabes to succeed - if they created successful marketers, they would create even more competition for themselves because they do not have a source of income except teaching (how to fail at) internet marketing and they do not teach how to market to those who do not wish to be internet marketing marketers.
Wannabes or newbies are like little children being taken through a cave lined with sparkling lights - they ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ at each sparkle then race off to try to catch the really pretty one and get lost when they hit the reality of the short-lived sparkle.
Nobody told them that it was dark in the cave and that they should take a torch!
Great stuff and long over-due for people like me who have never seen it before and didn’t really know how to get the foundation stable and strong enough.

Installment no 3 is for some reason a secret to most IM. The 4th installment is on the other hand obvious if you have been around for some time. Yet what many forgets is that the focus installment is an ongoing process. No matter how hard it is to drop a subscription, you will have to do that from time to time or you end up getting stuck.

    Kevin,

I’m thrilled at the idea of a weekly mastermind group - especially since it’s going to require commitment and accountability!

Those two requirements are exactly what will make the mastermind group a powerful tool for success.

    Looking forward to participating!

  8. Riley West says:

    Hello!
This sounds like it could be good.

I once had an idea. I would start a blog in which I wrote down the process by which I “became” an Internet Marketer.

As the posts mounted up and I learned a few things I put links to a few products that I made from PLR and a few affiliate links.

One day I had the pleasure of seeing money go INTO my PayPal account! Then it happened again! And again. I thought I was on to something.

I started to envision my first Sales Page. The headline would go like this…

“Who Else Wants To Work Their Fingers to The Bone Building Online Infrastructure To Support A Direct Sales Business and Growing It to A Point Where It Finally Starts To Make A Little Money But Less Than It Costs?”

That’s what I did. I worked my ass off and made (to date) Very Little Money. I call it VLM. Plus, I did it in a way that I don’t believe is “scaleable”.

In other words the Blog helped facilitate my original idea. As I learned about the ways and means of IM I got VERY familiar with HTML, Domains, Hosting, Autoresponders and a host of other IM infrastructure and methods.

But I ain’t making any money. I do get the occasional thrill of seeing one of my little sites work…you know…Sales page, Opt in, paypal button, download page, followup. Ka-ching.

But I ain’t making any money. I am fascinated with this idea, however…Automated Little Websites that make money!

What a concept! I can see the lifestyle now. I’m even sampling it. Like wine tasting.

It happened to me! I went to dinner with my lovely bride and when we got back to the house I had notification of a sale!

I’m telling you there is nothing like it.

It’s especially rewarding when my customer writes back and THANKS me for providing a good product.

    So…I’m in!

Oh, some of you might find a few of the rants in my blog to be pertinent to your situation, so take a look.

But, I advise against copying my method of Internet Marketing. It must be the SINGLE HARDEST WAY to make less money than it costs ever invented! But I learned a lot!

    Here’s to your success,

Riley West - An Internet Marketer In The Making.

  10. Well it looks like someone has been peeking inside my brain and keeping tabs on my non-focus. As it happens I canceled all my subscriptions last week and have enjoyed the lack of mail. Still a long way to go though. I am a really inexperienced internet person, but I had been feeling like I was on a merry go round and every time I looked there was another version of an IM huckster grinning at me and asking for money. It took me a few weeks but I gradually realized that all these folks I was hearing from were in cahoots. This affiliate marketing thing is like the dotcom thing. There’s nothing substantial to it. Just a lot of hype. I do so appreciate your prohibition against buying another product until after you have completed what you already have. I seem to have been a how-to junkie. For someone who has basically no income I have certainly spent a lot on programs, some of them still unopened. I will console myself with the thought that they are all Kevin Riley products. I do have a problem with focus. I believe it comes from a feeling of desperation.
Somehow it’s easier to cope if you feel you are doing something about your situation and the easiest thing is to buy something else that gives you hope. But the important thing to remember is that these things have no value unless you use them to make changes in the way you do things. Thanks Kevin and all who are contributing comments. I look forward to hear the latest Kevin has to offer but equally enjoy knowing how it is affecting others.

  11. Bruce L says:

    Kevin,

I just read the four parts of the Manifesto and it looks like it could be really good. I am a total newbie to marketing online, have nothing going yet, but am familiar with the whole losing focus/getting distracted thing. I’m not familiar with how Facebook works, but perhaps there would be a way that people who are going to implement the Manifesto could be grouped into groups of three or four, for the purpose of encouraging each other and holding each other accountable. (Maybe you assigning email partners who would become an accountability group to each other, or something). I purchased one of your recipes in the past, and maybe if this Manifesto project is laid out like a recipe where, Step 1: do this, Step 2: do this, etc., the mini-mastermind groups could hold each other accountable, and help and encourage each other to work through the various steps. I know if it’s just up to me, I’m too prone to except my excuses and let myself off the hook, whereas if I’m accountable to someone, I’m more apt to bite the bullet and do what I need to do.

  12. Fendi Salim says:

Kevin, I have a confession to make. Having unsubscribed from the majority of lists, newsletters and filtering out the spam in the email weeks ago, suddenly I’m beginning to have withdrawal symptoms…

Can we at least keep the Gmail manager on? LOL!

    Cheers

  13. John Kane says:

    Oh! SURE!
Do you have any idea how MAD Bubba, my email pusher, is going to be when his favorite customer of email spam(me) is going to cut him off.
    NOT pretty.
Picture Joe Pesci with a Louisville slugger.
NO horse’s head in my bed PLEASE.

Time to put a restraining order on the Stomp*r N*t guys.Mikey F3ls*ime too.

Does the Betty Ford Clinic treat Spam withdrawls as outpatients? ‘Cuz I am already getting the “shakes” without my fix.
WF cut back over 90%, many(not all yet) subs stopped.
I’m calling up my bud Dick Chenney to take care of a little birdy issue (Tweety) too.
He’s a pretty good shot UP CLOSE :)

    Keep ‘em coming Kevin.
    Beauty ‘eh?,

  14. Hi, Great post! I felt great reading your blog post. I’m working with my friend in a small internet marketing business as a web developer. When I’m free I go around for some IT info

  15. Steve Tuggle says:

Getting off all those lists is a great tip; huge in fact. I’m down to Kevin and a couple of others. Those lists not only divert focus but lead to a great amount of frustration. The end result is inaction. Most don’t deliver. Kevin is the real deal.
